Act on Energy support BSHP provider to save thousands on their energy bills

Save on energy bills

**News release** £100000s energy bill savings already in the bag for BSHP Provider

Cutting energy costs whilst also meeting environmental responsibilities can be quite a task for many businesses. But to achieve this and support the charity Act on Energy, it’s an all-round winner.

Act on Energy has been supporting residents in the West Midlands for nearly 30 years, with energy bills support and advice – as well as delivering energy efficiency schemes.

But now the charity has moved to support organisations and businesses who are also struggling with higher energy bills. And for all the organisations who have already taken part in the new, free offer, every single one has made a saving – that’s £100,000s already saved.

One such organisation is BCOP – the Birmingham based charity which runs nursing care homes and affordable housing schemes for older people.

Care homes and supported living accommodation mean particularly high energy bills, so the team were delighted to suddenly find they can now reduce their gas bill by more than £161,000 a year – that’s nearly £500k over the term of the contract.

The savings were discovered as part of Act on Energy’s partnership with Omnium – the energy experts who not only find the best prices but also complete a free energy health check – making sure that the correct rates, VAT and Climate Change Levy rates have been applied – or even exempted. The team also check on kVA – where organisations might be paying too much for their agreed capacity without even knowing.

“As a charity ourselves, being able to save money on our energy bills ultimately means more support for our residents. And to save nearly half a million pounds over the next few years on our gas bill alone is amazing.  It gives us that sure footing to reinvest in our people and their home.

“We’re delighted with the savings – and the free service that we’ve had – so I’ve now asked the team to find out what savings we can achieve on our electricity bills.

“What’s more, through this contract, I know that we are also supporting another charity, Act on Energy, who help thousands of customers in fuel poverty each year.  And with the West Midlands having the highest rates of fuel poverty in the country, that’s needed now more than ever.”

Helen Gore

Chief Executive at BCOP

“The cost of living and energy crisis is as much a squeeze on organisations like ourselves as a charity – as it is on the residents we support.  That’s why we felt it was so important to offer that valuable lifeline to organisations large and small – charity or profit making – and give them somewhere to turn for advice.

“We’re delighted to be able to offer this service through our partnership with Omnium – whose B-Corp sustainability aligns with our own philosophy.  Through this partnership, we’ll be able to reinvest in our local communities right across the West Midlands – supporting the thousands of households who are struggling with cold and damp homes – and spiraling levels of debt.”
