Help Us Make a Difference – July 2025 Weapons Surrender Schemes

Thank you for your continued dedication to making our communities safer. As part of the government’s mission to halve knife crime, two national surrender schemes will run throughout July 2025. Your support is vital in ensuring these initiatives reach those who need them most.

1. Extended Weapons Surrender Scheme

Regions: London, West Midlands, Greater Manchester

Purpose: Safe and anonymous surrender of any bladed weapon

How it works:

  • 28 government-funded community surrender bins available across the three regions
  • FazAmnesty mobile surrender van will tour the West Midlands on 1st and 2nd July 2025
  • FazAmnesty mobile surrender van will be in Birmingham on 2nd July 9:00am  – 12:00pm: Handsworth Park Handsworth Park car park, Handsworth Park, 195 Holly Road, B20 2BZ
  • No questions asked – completely anonymous disposal

2. Ninja Sword Surrender Scheme

Regions: All of England and Wales

Purpose: Surrender of ninja swords only

How it works:

  • Designated Police stations ONLY accepting ninja swords, not other weapons. Find out more information here 43 designated police stations. In Birmingham, the designated police stations include Bournville Police Station (341 Bournville Lane Bournville Birmingham B30 1QX),Stechford Police Station (338 Station Road Stechford Birmingham B33 8RR) and Sutton Coldfield Police Station (Lichfield Road Sutton Coldfield B74 2NR).
  • Compensation available for eligible swords purchased before 27th March 2025. You’ll need to complete a claim form (available at GOV.UK) and provide proof of purchase. Other weapons can be surrendered but aren’t eligible for compensation.
  • A full ban on ninja swords comes into effect from 1st August 2025

  • Share scheme details through your networks and platforms

  • Promote safe packaging and transport of weapons
  • Engage with young people and families in conversations about the dangers of carrying weapons
  • Highlight local support services and positive alternatives

Safe Surrender Guidance

  • Wrap weapons securely in a sealed bag or box
  • Travel directly to the surrender location
  • No personal details required unless claiming compensation
